I guess 50 years is almost nothing from an Asian perspective. And yet what tremendous distances I’ve covered since serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, working as a reporter in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Cambodia and then following the elephant all over China, southeast Asia and India trying to keep the lady happy, meaning Amazing Grace, of course — my wife and our stores at Hong Kong International Airport. Not always fun. There are the seemingly endless miles to walk at the trade shows and markets in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Bangkok, and Delhi looking for new products. Plus the heat, traffic, crowded planes, etc. But along the way, there are the things this blog is about — ways to occasionally beat the system and things to enjoy along the way that cost next to nothing. I start with where I live — Victoria Peak, and how I get to work everyday — the other beautiful lady in my life, the Star Ferry.
