Antiqued bone and bamboo tiles in hand-painted leather-covered case with dragon and phoenix design, symbolic of male and female energy, gives an ancient look and feel to a game that traces its origins to 12th century China, became an American craze in the 1920's, and reigns supreme in many communities around the world to this day. Literally 'flax/hemp' and 'sparrow clattering', its a game in which enthusiastic players move around and slap down the tiles on the table making what sounds like flax blowing in the wind and sparrows clattering. Tiles measure 1" long, .75" wide, and nearly .5" thick. Case (see close-up) has antiqued brass handles and clasp, measures 11" x 7.5" x 1.75". Comes with instruction booklet.
